The Princess Bride

Here is the key to Happiness.
The next time you’re looking for what to watch, head to Netflix and watch “The Princess Bride”!

(Your answer should be “As you wish”.)

It is one of the greatest “Re-Watchable” films of all time.  And I bring it up today as a reminder that sometimes, you “should” do what is guaranteed to MAKE YOU HAPPY!!

If you’re anything like me, you spend waaaaay too much time doing what you “should” be doing.  Heck, it rolls over into what I watch to relax

-I think, “well, I Should finish The West Wing series”. As much as I love The West Wing, “The Princess Bride” is THE BEST!

For those of you who haven’t seen it,
It’s one of the funnest films to watch with friends as it’s infinitely quotable, re-watchable and laugh out loud funny. The children’s film has it all: Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, True Love, miracles....

I watched the film again with a friend this past holiday (my 21st viewing). I was left with a warm fuzzy feeling inside and a much more amusing perspective on the world.

For my fellow scientists here are some of the health benefits of laughter:

  • A study out of Norway showed that who have a strong sense of humor live longer than those who don’t laugh as much.
  • Boosts immunity
  • Lowers stress hormones

Conversation: Ask friends -”What is the funniest thing that has happened to you lately?”

Great quotes from The Princess Bride:
Valerie: The chocolate coating makes it go down easier. But you have to wait fifteen minutes for full potency. And you shouldn’t go in swimming after, for at least, what?
Miracle Max: An hour?
Valerie: Yeah, an hour.

Miracle Max and Valerie: Bye Bye boys, have fun stormin’ da castle.

“My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!”
― William Goldman, The Princess Bride

Miracle Max:
“Sonny, true love is the greatest thing in the world. Except for a nice MLT, a mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They're so perky, I love that. But that's not what he said! He distinctly said "to blave." And, as we all know, "to blave" means "to bluff," huh? So you're probably playing cards, and he cheated—

Valerie:
[popping out from another room] Liar! LIAR! LI-A-A-AR!
